For solicitors
AI for solicitors that you can check
Consilena gives solicitors a first pass at research and markup that can be audited: every step the AI takes is shown, every claim cites a provision you can open, and every edit is a tracked change you accept or reject. It starts with free credits, then pay-as-you-go packs, with no subscription.
Built around the duty to check
Solicitors may use AI, and remain responsible for the work. The SRA's warning notice on AI misuse names hallucinated citations and client confidentiality as its two concerns, and says reliance on AI output is no defence. In June 2025 the Divisional Court said lawyers using AI for research must check it against authoritative sources.
Consilena is designed for that check. The trace shows what was searched and read; each citation opens the provision from legislation.gov.uk or the other official publisher, with its status and date; and nothing in your document changes until you accept it. The guide for solicitors sets out the regulatory position in more detail.
What solicitors use it for
- Legal research in UK legislation, with cited answers and “Law as of” dates.
- Contract review against the law and your client's position.
- Drafting from your templates, with mandatory clauses locked.
- Comparing jurisdictions when a matter touches Germany or the EU.
Priced per task, shown before you ask
There is no seat licence and no subscription. New accounts get free start credits with no card; after that you buy credit packs. The composer shows an estimate before you send, based on the models, mode and jurisdictions you choose, and credits never expire. Unused purchased credit can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. Client confidentiality
- Servers, databases, files and backups are hosted on AWS in Frankfurt, encrypted at rest; connections are encrypted in transit.
- Questions go to the AI model providers that answer them, which are US-based, with data collection denied.
- We do not sell personal data or train on your documents.
- Upload only what the task needs, and follow your firm's own policy on AI tools.
Details are on the security page and in the privacy policy.
Getting started

- Ask a question you already know the answer toOpen the citations and the trace, and judge the work as you would a trainee's first draft.

What it does not do
- It does not cite case law: there is no UK case law in the corpus yet.
- It does not give legal advice or take on regulatory responsibility; the work stays yours.
- It does not file, represent or conduct litigation.
Frequently asked questions
Are solicitors allowed to use AI?
Yes. No rule bars solicitors from using AI, but they stay responsible for the work: they must supervise it, protect confidentiality and check output, including every citation, before relying on it.
Is there a ChatGPT for lawyers?
There are legal AI tools built for lawyers. Consilena is one: it cites the provisions it relies on, shows each step and puts edits into Word files as tracked changes, which a general chatbot does not.
Does Consilena cover UK case law?
No. It covers selected UK Acts and regulations, not case law. Research judgments in a case-law database.
Do I need a subscription?
No. Free start credits, then pay-as-you-go packs. Credits never expire.
Is the output legal advice?
No. It is not legal advice; it is a first draft prepared by a tool, which you check before it goes into advice or a filing.
