Comparison
Harvey AI alternative: Consilena compared
Harvey is an enterprise AI platform for law firms and in-house teams, sold through demos with no public price. Consilena is a research and drafting workspace you can start free: you watch each step, open the provision behind every claim and pay per question with credit packs. Here is how they differ, with sources.
Who Harvey is for
Harvey describes itself as AI software for legal and professional services, with agents, a document vault, research and contract tools. Its homepage addresses law firms, including mid-size firms, and in-house legal departments, and states that 3,500+ legal organisations and 200,000+ professionals use it, including 80+ AmLaw 100 firms (as read on 28 October 2026).
Its knowledge page names 500+ legal sources, including LexisNexis, Wolters Kluwer, Otto Schmidt, Lefebvre, FromCounsel and EUR-Lex.
How pricing and access work
Harvey publishes no prices: harvey.ai/pricing returned 404 on 28 October 2026, and the homepage's calls to action are “Request a Demo”. We found no free trial on the pages we read.
Consilena gives free start credits without a card. After that you buy credit packs listed on the pricing page; there is no subscription. The composer shows a price estimate before you send each question, and credits never expire.

What Consilena does differently
- Watch the work. Every search, read and check is listed in a work trace with its time and cost, so you can see what was looked at and what was not. See how it works.
- Open the cited provision. Each claim carries a numbered source that opens the provision itself, from legislation.gov.uk, eur-lex.europa.eu or gesetze-im-internet.de, with its status and the date it was retrieved. See coverage.
- Approve every edit. Changes to a document arrive as tracked changes. You accept or reject each one, and each decision is saved as a new version. The Word add-in is in beta.
- Pay as you go. Free start credits, then credit packs. No subscription and no sales call; the price estimate appears before you send a question, and credits never expire. See pricing.
- Hosting in Frankfurt. Servers, databases, files and backups run on AWS in Frankfurt (eu-central-1). The AI model providers that answer questions are based in the US. See security.
- A partner law firm. When you need a person, you can ask for a lawyer at BSKP. Your file is handed over anonymised, and only once you consent and the firm accepts.
When Harvey may suit you better
Harvey may be the better fit if you:
- need named security certifications for procurement: Harvey lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and ISO 42001. Consilena claims none;
- need licensed commentary or case-law content from publishers such as those on Harvey's knowledge page. Consilena has no case law;
- want processing kept in a chosen region, including the AI step: Harvey offers EU or Switzerland, US and Australia. Consilena's AI model providers are US-based;
- are rolling out to a large organisation with onboarding and enterprise support.
