Data residency

The geographic location where data is stored and processed.

What Data residency means

Data residency describes where data physically sits: the region of the servers, databases and backups. It is distinct from where data is processed in transit, for example by a service provider in another country.

When assessing a vendor, ask separately where data is stored, where it is processed, which sub-processors are involved, and which transfer safeguards apply.

In Consilena

Consilena’s servers, databases, files and backups are hosted on AWS in Frankfurt (eu-central-1). Questions are sent to AI model providers that are based in the US, so Consilena does not claim EU-only data residency.
