What Statute means

A statute is primary legislation: in the UK an Act of Parliament, in Germany a federal statute (Bundesgesetz) such as the BGB. Statutes are organised into parts, sections or paragraphs, and are often amended by later Acts.

Statutes sit alongside secondary legislation made under them and, in common-law systems, case law that interprets them.

In Consilena

Consilena’s law library holds selected UK Acts and regulations, German federal statutes and EU law, plus French, Swiss and US federal law. It has no UK or German case law yet.
